onto each assembled car. The volume of water released during the test period will be equivalent to a rainfall of 252 inches per hour.

ROAD  TO  QUALITY

          A 100 per cent individual road-test quality check of each car by four especially trained quality road-test inspectors is an important item on the Imperial production agenda. Each vehicle will be driven over a variety of bumpy, rolling and smooth road surfaces, while brake, engine, transmission, axle, and over-all handling characteristics will be rigorously checked.

NEW  AIR  CONDITIONING  CONVEYOR

           100 per cent installation of air conditioning units in Imperials will be possible in the new Imperial plant as a result of the installation of a specially constructed conveyor designed to facilitate charging and testing of air conditioning units. The new conveyor principle of handling charging and testing operations will make for greater quality and efficiency of operation.

HIGH  SPEED  180  DEGREE  CONVEYOR  TURN

           One of the first high speed 180 degree conveyor turns to be installed in an automotive assembly plan will be part of the new Imperial facility. The actual rate of speed of the specially constructed conveyor is on an average of 13 times as fast as the main conveyor line. Purpose of the high speed on turn is to eliminate blocking of plant supply routes by assembly line units. Special conveyor will have a separate drive element, and compensating drive clutch to enable it to perform its precise task.
