Had a concern with bumper I received from bumper boys. They were more then willing to replace it. Overall very satisfied.
From Skip Nagy: (16 Mar 2017)
Bumper Boyz (Carlos and Bob) are crooks!!!! I sent them 5 great 442 rear bumpers for one to be redone and they sent me one that was wavy and welded holes. Now my front bumper after being in the air bubble for ten years, the chrome is peeling off like wallpaper. How do these guys stay in business?
From Gary Ingersoll: (4 Apr 2016)
I had the front and rear bumpers of my 57 ford done. I was able to simply trade my old bumpers for plated ones. I also had my wife's 75 olds convertible done, front and rear. I was very satisfied with both cars. It's been 9 years since the ford was done, and still get favorable comments. The olds was sold to a fellow in Louisiana and he's very happy with it.
From Chris Costa: (16 Oct 2015)
I swapped my 67 Camaro core for a Bumper Boyz bumper. When I got home I tried to install the GM brackets in the bumper and they wouldn't fit. I then realized that the bumper was thinner and lighter than the original. I had just paid big bucks for a re-chromed reproduction. I took it back and they insisted it wasn't a reproduction. I caused such a fuss in front of other potential customers they finally agreed to shut me up by giving me another. The chrome looked good as did the whole bumper. I got it home, put the brackets in and mounted it to the car to then find out it had a slight bend in it which it nows sits on my car crooked. The only fix would be to open up the mounting holes on the body or brackets. Another dissatisfied customer, stay away.
From Mike Varner: (27 Apr 2015)
I guess I'm not as bad off as some of the ones with hard to find bumpers but I bought from bumper boyz at a swap meet and after getting it home found it not to even be for the right vehicle. After calling I was told just bring to the next swap meet and we'll make it right. Then wanted me to pay an extra $100 plus $20 for handling charges. Now I don't have a bumper to fit my truck and a horrible quality chrome boat anchor. Thought this would be better then repop stuff. Not the case this time.
From Matt Zeiger: (27 Mar 2015)
Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I would have known how unprofessional this business was before I purchased a front and rear bumper for my 1972 Ford Ranchero. The rear bumper showed rust after six months and the front bumper will not even fit.Not only am I out my money but also my original bumpers. Bumper Boyz Suckz.
From Ray Jelinek: (3 Mar 2015)
I guess I get to join the list of suckers.. absolute crap work and rusting thru.
From Bob Schenk: (6 Oct 2014)
Bought a front bumper for my '59 Ford at Daytona Turkey Run. They had it at their booth, I was able to examine it first, bought it and handed them a core I had brought with me. I was leery of dealing with them after all the negatives I'd heard, but my bumper still looks great after four years. But I may look elsewhere for the rear bumper, all the negatives are too much.
From Dennis Edwards: (4 Jul 2014)
Poor quality and POOR service along with high prices. These guys are no good, keep looking else where
From Bill Miller: (21 Jun 2014)
After reading the negative reviews on this site I now realize there's no need in me contacting the Bumper Boyz to try and get some satisfaction for the scrap bumpers I bought from them. I swapped out my straight, rust and dint free Olds Cutlass front and rear bumpers and and what I got in return was twisted, bent and defect-infested bumpers. The only thing wrong with my originals was dulling and losing their luster. When I went to install the rear bumper one corner was bent so bad I couldn't install the rubber filler or get the bumper adjusted without damaging the paint. The front was another story. It was twisted and bent so bad it was impossible to adjust or align. I guess it was an expensive lesson learned. If there is a next time I'll take my stuff to Advanced Plating in Nashville where I took my original Camaro bumpers and got real "SHOW CHROME". Expensive yes but quality workmanship and product. My advice is to mark your originals and take them to a reputable shop that does show chrome and steer clear of the BUMPER BOYZ!!!
From William R Hunt: (7 Nov 2013)
DO NOT BUY FROM BUMPER BOYZ. We ordered our bumpers chromed from them and took them to the Iola Car Show. At that time they gave us an invoice showing that we had paid 1/2 of the price agreed upon. We were to pick the bumpers up at the Jefferson, WI car show. They called us 2 weeks prior to the show and informed us that due an increase in costs from their subcontractor, they could not honor our agreed upon price and charged us an additional $400. THEY HAD OUR BUMPERS HOSTAGE TO BOOT. The only way they would return the bumpers to us was to pay the additional cost. We had no choice but to pay them. Beware when they give you a price, take your bumpers as they will hold them hostage until you pay more. We tried to dispute the charges through out credit card. They could not do anything as we had signed the credit card receipt but we had to sign the receipt in order to get the bumpers. Totally disappointed with this company. They will scam you.
From Dave Karp: (2 Oct 2013)
Wow. I have had my bumper for my 79 Magnum about 12 years from them, still looks awesome, but with all this negative, I guess something changed. Too badI need new ones for another car, but not taking a chance with these fellows if this is whats going on. Cant afford the risk of problems. They were good to me, but it looks like something changed.
From Kevin Hammill: (12 Jun 2013)
Another sad story of BB promising and not delivering. They didn't have the bumper I ordered for the show, and guess who was now going to have to pay to ship it...ME. They get you over the barrel and hold you hostage. Lots of mistakes @ BB because there are no penalties for them if they screw up!!!
From Andy Vargo: (15 Jan 2013)
I bought a front and rear bumber for my 1966 ford fairlane.I called them, told them what I wanted and they confirmed with me.What I got was a front and rear for a 1965 ford fairlane.Of coarse I called and they said ,Oh that is what you orderd.I responded by leting them know I had two 1966 fairlanes and a 1967 fairlane that all take the same bumpers so why in the hell would i ask for bumpers for a 1965.Send them back at my cost and they will ship the correct ones at my cost also.Well I ended up selling the 1965 bumpers at a loss and had a set that I had rechromed at Pauls Chrome. My ass is still soar from the B/BOYZS
From Fred Nicholas: (27 Nov 2012)
I hope and pray that before you use the bumper boyz you will read this and you think twice before using them. i HAD a stright and rust free bumper when i gave it to them. so what do you think i got back? one that had a split that was repaired and it had a rust hole that was chrome over and had two washers wielded on it and told to cut them off! . they also sprayed the inside of the bumper with silver rattle can(over rust) and told me it was up to me to do it right! i wish i could post pic's of the crap bumper they gave me.RUN.. RUN..RUN.......
From Carl Shubert: (20 Sep 2012)
A COUPLE YEARS AGO. I GAVE BUMPER BOYZ MY FRONT AND REAR BUMPER OFF MY 1970 CHEVELLE THAT ONLY HAD 17,500 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT TO BE RECHROMED AND THEY SAID I WOULD GET THE SAME BUMPERS BACK. (YA RIGHT) I MARKED THEM WITH A ENGRAVING TOOL ON THE BACK SO I COULD SEE IF THEY WHERE THE ONES I GAVE THEM. WHEN I PICKED THEM UP AT A CAR SHOW HERE NEW YORK THEY WERE NOT!!! THE GUY SAID OH YES THEY ARE I FOLLOWED THEM THRU THE PROCESS MYSELF. THE ONES THEY GAVE ME WAS ALL PITTED ON THE BACK LIKE THEY WHERE IN A JUNK YARD FOR 20 YEARS AND THERE WAS NO ENGRAVING ON THEM. HE SAID THEY MUST OF GROUND THAT OFF AT THE SHOP. I SAID WHY DIDN'T THEY GRIND ALL THE RUST OFF ALSO. I WOULD NEVER HAVE ANYTHING DONE BY THEM AGAIN. AND YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY. WORD OF MOUTH IS THE BEST ADVERTISEMENT!!!! AND I DO ALOT OF CAR SHOWS AND KNOW ALOT OF CAR CLUB PEOPLE. GOOD LUCK IF YOU DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!
From Nate Miller: (11 Aug 2012)
Years ago their prices were reasonable. Now they are expensive and the quality is poor. I ordered a front bumper for my 1969 AMX. The plating was missing on an edge but I used it anyway rather than going through the hassle and expense of shipping it back. Before that I bought a rear bumper for a 1970 Shelby. The bumper was actually twisted and wouldn't even fit properly. Be warned. You may get lucky but the odds are against you with this company. You are better off using a local rechromer.
From David Henson: (12 Jan 2012)
over 12 years ago i bought bumpers grill and al the moldings on my car they are just as shiny and bright as the day i put them on the biggest problem i see with poeples chrome IS NEGLECT you have to take care of chrome just like your paint job i just receive all my bumpers and moldings for my prize car which is a 69 copo camaro i will never go to anyone else to have chrome done as they have been very good to me
From Russ Moss: (23 Sep 2011)
I had my 65 Starfire bumpers chromed 2 years 4 months ago. Last tear the front bumper started peeling. They did re-chrome that bumper however, 3 weeks ago the rear bumper started peeling. I was told all they could do is offer me a discounted rate of $500.00 (regular price is $800.00). I called other chrome shops and thier regular rates are $450 - $500.00. Good Bye Bumper BOYZZ
From Barby and Bobby Morris: (28 Oct 2010)
we purchased front and back bumpers for a 64 falcon in march 2010, we are now on our 3rd set of rejected bumpers, which they will not honor the waranty...bumper boyz is bad news and i will be calling the B.B.B TOMMORROW.the owners wife is a smart a** brat, who doesnt seem to care if hard working people pay hundreds of dollars for shabby work. i hope they can all sleep well at night because i wont tonight thats for sure. 3 trips 6 hours each way and they dont care what kind of crap they sell people !! DO NOT USE THIS SO CALLED COMPANY !!!
From Josh: (21 Oct 2010)
i must have been a lucky one. i have no platers in my area. and they come to the show here in Ny. convinient. i had them do all the chrome on my 50 chevy delux. 7 years ago till looks great. i hear they are under new management i have a new project(65 impala ss) will use them again.
From Rich: (20 Jul 2009)
They just lost an original part for a 57 T'Bird I am restoring. They won't answer my calls, or my emails. These guys suck!
From Thomas L Pyles: (17 Jan 2008)
The Bumber Boys should be called Bumper Rip Off's.I had sent the my bumpers from my 63 corvette and they were not bad, they had gone dull and the chrome was rubbed thru at spots.3 weeks latter what I got back was 4 shinny peice's of crap. they were weld at places and bent they were not the bumpers I sent to get rechromed.I called and they said send them back and they would make it right (at my cost)I did and what I got back was the same thing.I took the beating and bought new ones. NEVER AGIN. Tom
From Noel: (13 Aug 2006)
I bought a bumper from the Bumper Boyz to restore a 1964 Mercury Comet Wagon and on delivery the bumper was not packed good and came creased. Because of the hassel to send it back and the cost to ship it back I put it on the car. In less than a year the chrome was peeling everywhere. I use this as a lesson learned.
From Rita:
I bought bumpers for my 73 Nova from Bumper Boyz, thinking they were quality work, but less than a year and my bumpers are surface rusted and the chrome is peeling off. This car is always garaged and strickly a show car.
From Dave Freiert:
Lets see I bought a bumper from bumperboyz in 2004 for my 1970 olds cutlass supreme. This car is garaged 100% of the year and has never seen snow and is never driven in the rain.Upon taking my car out of storage for the first time this spring im finding the bumper is brown and very pitted im very unhappy!
From Bill:
I've known of the Bumper Boyz for 10 or so years & wouldn't let them chrome the old galvanized handle on my push lawn mower.
From Mike:
I have heard nothing good about Bumper Boyz...your story is quite typical, and not surprising (the environmental regulations in California seem to make it practically impossible to get a quality chrome job done there).
I was initially turned off by the ghetto-esque spelling of their name...made me think some guy in his living room was just bondo-ing the bumpers and painting them with metallic Rustoleum.
From Bob:
I had the same problem with them as Jim did. The only thing different was that mine were still under warranty but they forgot to bring it to the Carlisle and I had to pay shipping on the returned bumper. And when I got it would not fit right and they told me that they only do 1 exchange and that I would have to send in the 1 that they sent me and pay for the 1 they took back with them and have it redone and I told them on the phone that I would never deal with them again.
From Jim:
My '64 coupe is a 38k mile original car except for a fresh coat of its original color, radials, brake hardware, and the bumpers which I had "new rechromed" done by the Bumper Boyz of California. This work was completed in Dec '99. The chrome has (had) a warranty of 2 years.
This spring (2002), I noticed some pitting on the "propeller" portion of the rear and a loss of luster on the front end caps. I cleaned them up and as time had gone on, the rear is getting downright nasty looking. Bear in mind that this car isn't a daily driver and sits in a heated garage most of the time.
This morning at Chrysler's at Carlisle, at the behest of some of our fellow IML'ers, I went to the BB display, and asked the fellows there what, if anything could be done to either fix the mess or prorate me some of the rather large cost that I was hit with to do this job (they took my originals as cores, the only thing wrong with them was that they had lost their luster there was no rust or dents and the unit they got as a core looked better than what's on the car).
THE REPLY: You are over two years, and the only thing we'll do is get you another bumper done AT FULL RETAIL. (Thanx a lot!!!) Needless to say, I was suitably unimpressed with this attitude and response, and it was suggested at the tent that perhaps we should post this as a "warning" to others. I has made the presumption that as a major nationally advertised group that the quality, price and SERVICE would be superior to a local shop. Regrettably, that isn't the case. SO........CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!!!
