Imperial Home Page -> Imperials by Year -> 1950 -> A 1950 Imperial Sedan

We recently saw this Imperial sedan for sale. Here's what the owner had to say about this car:

This 1950 Chrysler Imperial four door sedan is a full restored classic that comes with the famous inline 8 cylinder engine and three speed manual transmission. The mileage of the car is believed to be correct at 88,588. One drive behind the wheel of this beauty, it is sure to bring back memories of when you were a kid, riding to church and school in the back of your Parents Chrysler.

The exterior looks great and the black paint shows very nicely. There are some very minor scratches in the paint that can only be seen upon close inspection. From 5 feet away, the car looks stunning. The trim is in excellent shape with no major imperfections. The front and rear bumpers have a brilliant shine with no pitting or major scratches to be found. The beautiful chrome front grill shows no pitting or major dings either.

Mileage shows 88,588 and is believed to be actual. The car is being sold with mileage exempt. This is a rare classic that is rarely seen and even rarer in this original condition. The car is sure to get its fair share of attention and praise at the next car show.

The interior has been completely reupholstered. The seats are in great condition as well as the headliner, door panels and carpet. The glass is in good shape and is clear and clean. The headlights, blinkers, horn and wipers all work with no problems. The steering wheel does show some very minor cracking but is very solid overall. The original AM radio is currently inoperable. All windows are power and work with no problems.

The massive inline 8 cylinder engine is in very clean condition and drives out very well. The motor is said to be the original for the car. The three speed manual transmission performs without any problems and makes this big Imperial travel down the road with ease. The clutch feels strong and the car shifts with no problems. The car is still on its original 6 volt system.

The wheels are in great shape with hubcaps that are all in very good condition. They are wrapped with 6.20 15 Bias Ply tires. There is a full size spare in the trunk. The under carriage and frame are both solid with no rot to be found anywhere on the car. There has been a very light undercoating applied at one time under the car to ensure it will stay solid for many years.
