Here is a 1959 Imperial convertible, owned by a Mr. Ruffallo who is in the potato business in Wisconsin. He has quite an extensive collection ( 60+) of cars in excellent condition. He puts on a large display of his cars at the IOLA car show in Iola, Wisconsin. You can see some of his cars in the background of some of these photos.

It has been interesting to see the progression of his collection since I have become an "Iola" regular. His collection started out as largely GM - 50's Oldsmobiles and Corvettes and Two seat Thunderbirds.

In the last 5 years the Virgil Exner Mopars have really captured him. He has a wonderful collection!

This car also has a optional hood ornament that appears to be different from the optional one offered in 1959.

The hood ornament seems to be identical to that found on the 53-54 Imperial. (See "Irland '54 Imperial - Exterior"). I don't know if this ornament is original to this car (dealer installed option?) or whether it was the restorer's attempt to add some distinction to his car. It does appear that some "license" was taken in the restoration as I am not sure that the "Imperial" letters on the hood were ever gold plated by the factory.

In any case, it is an interesting ornament on a very pretty Imperial.
