The Crown four door was the most popular Imperial in 1963. The 129-inch chassis was a carry-over from '62.

At the low end was the Custom 4-Door Hardtop. Note the updated grille and crisp crease in the roof-line. Base price was $5253

Only 13 Crown Imperial Limousines were produced by Ghia of Italy at an incredible $18,500 each. Notice the '62 Wheel covers. No Limousines were produced for 1962.

Compared to the '63 Cadillac Sedan deVille, a Crown four door is longer, wider and more luxurious.

Although nearly 500 lbs heavier than deVille, this Crown was quite a performer. New for '63 was a parking brake and larger surface-area brake drums.

Foreshadowing the '64 season, here's a '63 Lincoln Continental next to an Imperial Custom. Ex-Ford designer Elwood Engel took the styling reins at Chrysler and his hand will be evident in the 1964 Imperial.
