The 1967 Imperial at the Tournament of Roses

At the 1967 Tournament of Roses in Pasadena, California, the Rose Queen and the Grand Marshal were photographed in Imperial convertibles. Presumably these photos were taken on January 2, the day of the parade and Rose Bowl football game.

This 8x10" photographic print was purchased in an auction. The reverse side bears the following caption:

FIT FOR A QUEEN -- Imperial convertible is the official car for the 78th Tournament of Roses. Shown with the official car are tournament Queen Barbara Hewitt, seated behind wheel, and members of her court.
Also present on the reverse is the number F509-11, and the address of Vanguard Photography of Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood, California (now apparently defunct).

The Grand Marshal of the Rose Parade was Thanat Khoman, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

Can you help? Did you or someone you know attend the Rose Bowl or Rose Parade in 1967 and take pictures or movies, or purchase brochures or other literature? Do you own a book of the history of the tournament? If you can contribute a photo or motion picture containing one of these historic Imperials, please contact us.

Another possibility: The Seaver Center of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County has a collection of Tournament of Roses photographs and motion pictures from Drewry Photocolor Corporation, the official photographer for the event. This archive is numbered P-39, and is described on this page of their web site. If you search this collection, please let us know whether you find any Imperials!
