John Prukop's 1968 Imperial Crown 4-Door Hardtop

John Prukop recently wrote in to tell us about his green '68 Crown 4-Door Hardtop. Here's what he had to say about it.

This Imperial is sort of special to our family, first being owned by my parents when they bought it 'new' in 1968 from Brewer Chrysler Plymouth in Auburn, WA. When my first son was born in 2001, my mom who was '91' at the time was driving the Imperial to the hospital to see our new baby boy and got smacked by a red-light running Geo Metro 'rice-rocket' which messed up the right front door and fender. Other than that, the car is in really nice condition and it's a testament to Chrysler's excellent body and paint work in 1968, that even now in 2008 with the damage that was sustained in 2001, there's very little rust in the damaged areas. I'm looking for a replacement right front door and fender, so if anyone can help us with that chore, my family would be especially grateful. This one is a 'keeper' with just over 74,000 miles.

We just put new Cooper tires on her and had it serviced and she drives like a dream, except for a slightly worn front idler arm, which we're also trying to locate. Other than that and a driver's side interior center post plastic trim cover that's black in color, that unfortunately had become brittle from age and cracked in half when a rather 'large' mechanic was easing in and out, the interior of this Imperial shows just like brand new.
