                          HISTORIC NOTES AND SERIES IDENTIFICATION:

Imperial styling moved further away from that of other Chrysler Corporation cars in 1957.  Hardtop models featured a distinctive "overlapping" rear-section roof.  The taillights were now integrated into the tips of the tail fins.  Wraparound "eyebrow" trim above the headlights extended half the length of the front fenders.  Med-body chrome trim trim ran from the rar deck panel to the front tire between the two horizontal bumpers.

The Imperial was introduced, with all other Chrysler cars, on October 30, 1956.

The numbering system was C571,001-36,890.

Imperials display curved side window glass, another industry first.  Notice how the glass goes in toward the roof, not straight up, allowing for a small roofline.

"Torsion-Aire Ride" is introduced, replacing conventional front springs with torsion bars and giving Chrysler praise for improved roadability.
