                                              HISTORIC NOTES:

This was the last Imperial until 1981.  Styling was basically the same from 1974.  Lack of sales was the official reason for Imperial's phase out.

Vehicle identification numbers are as follows: the first symbol designated make (Y = Imperial), the second symbol designated make (M = LeBaron), the third and fourth symbols designated body styles (23 = 2-door hardtop, 43 = 4-door hardtop), the fifth symbol designated engine (J, K, L, T = 440).  The sixth symbol designated year.  The seventh symbol for manufacturing plant (C = Detroit).  The last six digits were production numbers starting at 100,001.

The sun goes down on the Imperial Division, but Chrysler will return to the prestige of the Imperial name in 1981.

Disproving Chrysler division president Clare Briggs' assertion in 1960 that there would never be a "small Chrysler", the corporate luxury crown is taken from Imperial and bestowed on the new Cordoba.

Imperial had a splendidly luxurious interior, demonstrated by these two '75 Imperial brochure interior pictures.
